Guyana aluminium deal

The Government in Guyana has signed a deal, worth US$1 billion with Bosai Minerals Group for the construction of a state-of-the-art aluminum plant in the mining town of Linden.



Company officials said that construction of the plant would begin by December 2009 and should take no more than three years to be completed.



During the construction period, 700 people are to be employed and another 1,000 permanent employees for will be employed for normal operation upon completion of the project.



Under the agreement, the Guyana Government will control 11 per cent of the total shares in the refinery, while Bosai will have 89 per cent.
