TT government to cut public spending

Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Patrick Manning said the government would be cutting major public spending in an effort to contain the fall out from the global financial crisis.



He said the government\'s school and home construction programmes would be cut in addition to several other construction projects.



Mr. Manning said construction of hospitals in the city and central Trinidad will also be postponed.



However he is seeking to assure public officers that there will be no reduction in salaries and pensions.
