Haiti to arrive for Digicel Caribbean Championship
Defending champions Haiti are scheduled to arrive in Montego Bay tonight at 8.55 for the Digicel Caribbean Championship Football Finals which kicks off tomorrow at the National Stadium.
The other six Caribbean teams are already in the country.
Haiti, drawn in Group ‘B’, will start the defence of their title against Antigua and Barbuda on Thursday at Jarrett Park beginning at 5 p.m.
The other two teams in the group, Guadeloupe and Cuba will face off in the second match at
7 p.m.
The competition kicks off tomorrow with a Group ‘A’ double header at the National Stadium. Trinidad and Tobago will tackle Grenada in the first game at 5 p.m., while Jamaica and Barbados will clash at 7 p.m.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals on December 11, with the final set for December 14.
The Digicel Caribbean Championship winners will collect US$120,000 and the tournament’s top four finishers will advance to the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States in June.
