St Lucia's emergency agency denies political distribution of relief aid

(CMC):

St Lucia’s National Emergency Management Organization has denied suggestions that politics was guiding the manner in which it was distributing emergency supplies to persons affected by heavy rains in December.

There have been complaints that the emergency supplies sent to the island are not reaching some of the affected areas.

The weather system caused the deaths of six people and left millions of dollars in damage.

The organisation insists that distributions are being made based on the needs of people on an assessment list.
