Prime Minister Simpson Miller now in Cuba

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is now on an official visit to Cuba.



The Prime Minister left the island yesterday.



She is leading Jamaica’s participation in the Second Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.



Simpson Miller is accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator A.J. Nicholson.



As part of her visit, Prime Minister Simpson Miller will meet with Cuban President Raul Castro, and be engaged in bilateral talks on possible areas of increased cooperation between Jamaica and Cuba.



The two leaders will also hold discussions on regional issues including the upcoming 5th CARICOM/Cuba Summit which will take place later this year.



Minister of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change Robert Pickersgill will be in charge of the government during the Prime Minister’s absence.



She is scheduled to return to the island on Wednesday.
