Brazil and Antigua and Barbuda have signed a framework agreement outlining cooperation in the field of defence.

Antigua’s National Security Minister Dr Errol Cort says the signing of the agreement has created a viable medium of support for the soon to be established Caribbean Maritime School of Excellence.

Cort, who paid a four-day visit to Brazil to sign the accord, said that it would also provide support for the continued development of the Antigua Barbuda Defence Force’s Urban Search and Rescue capabilities.

A government statement said that a high ranking delegation from Brazil is to visit Antigua and Barbuda to further discuss implementing the objectives of the agreement.
