Bolt gets BBC award

Jamaica’s Olympic champion and world record holder Usain Bolt has won the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Overseas Sports Personality for 2008.
The 22 year old, who also won the World and Central American and Caribbean Athlete of the Year awards earlier this season, was picked for the BBC award after his world record performances at the Beijing Olympics in August.
Bolt cruised to a stunning 100-metre world record 9.69 seconds and then followed that up with another world record run of 19.30 in the 200-metre.
He completed the triple with a blistering third leg on Jamaica’s record breaking 4 x 100-metre relay team.
Bolt, was not in Liverpool, England to collect the award at the weekend, but apologised for missing the ceremony.
