Jamaica and West Indies captain Chris Gayle has climbed three places up the all-rounders’ rating to Number 6 in the latest Reliance Mobile International Cricket Council Test Player Rankings.

Gayle jumped from Number 9 in the previous ratings and is now just outside the top five, which remains unchanged.

South African Jacques Kallis tops the list, followed by New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori and England’s Andrew Flintoff, with injured West Indian Dwayne Bravo at Number four and Sri Lanka’s Chaminda Vaas fifth.

Meanwhile, in the batting, West Indies left-hander Shivnarine Chanderpaul keeps the Number 1 spot ahead of Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and Mohamed Yousuf of Pakistan.

There are no other West Indies batsmen in the Top 20, with Chanderpaul’s teammates Ramnaresh Sarwan at Number 22 and Gayle at Number 27.

Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan leads the bowling list ahead of South African Dale Steyn, followed by Australian Stuart Clark and Makhaya Ntini of South Africa.

The Number 18 rated Jerome Taylor is the only West Indies player in the Top-20 list.
