St Lucian unions, gov't to hold talks on proposed spending cuts
Public sector union leaders in St Lucia are bracing for a crucial meeting with government officials today to discuss proposals to reduce spending.
However, the trade union leaders have vowed not to rubber stamp any proposal presented to them.
Prime Minister Dr Kenny Anthony invited the unions to the meeting ahead of Tuesday's budget presentation.
At the meeting it is expected that officials of the Department of Finance will give an update on the performance of the economy for the past year and its immediate prospects.
Cabinet members will also engage the leaders in a discussion over the options available to the government.
