LIAT to cut fuel subcharges

Regional airline LIAT has disclosed that it will be reducing the fuel surcharges to customers.

It said it would be reducing the surcharge, which is applied to one-way journeys by US$7.00.

With the change, a passenger travelling from Barbados to LIAT\'s headquarters in Antigua would now pay US$263 inclusive of taxes.

However, LIAT said the change, which is subject to regulatory approval, would not be effective before January 5, next year.

The change is in keeping with the recent downward trend of world oil prices.

LIAT CEO Mark Darby said while international prices now appear to have settled below US$50 per barrel, the carrier remains watchful of the situation.
