St Kitts man hanged

St. Kitts and Nevis has carried out the death penalty for the first time in ten years.



Al Laplace was hanged inside the Basseterre prison at 8 o’clock this morning.



Two years ago, Laplace was convicted for the 2004 murder of his wife Diana.



Diana was stabbed to death outside their matrimonial home in the plain view of neighbours.

The couple had been married for ten years.



During that time Al Laplace accumulated a record of numerous assaults on his wife.



The last hanging in St. Kitts and Nevis was in July 1998 when David Wilson faced the gallows for beating a security guard to death.
