Guyana celebrates 48th year of independence

Guyana is celebrating its 48th anniversary as an independent country.
In his address to the nation, President Donald Ramotar said the country is marking the milestone of its political history in a world that has grown more complex and more interconnected.
However, he said the world remains very unequal between the developing South and the developed North.
He also said international relations are still dominated and determined by a handful of rich countries.
