Six opposition parties have announced plans to form a coalition to contest the next general elections due by May next year.
The parties have called a news conference for Thursday to formally announce their plans.
The parties had last month indicated their intention to form a coalition to oppose President Desi Bouterse’s MegaCombination party.
The new grouping will be known as the Coalition of Cooperating Political Parties.
