T&T political party wants probe into police killings

Published:Tuesday | June 10, 2014 | 10:48 AM

Trinidad’s Movement for Social Justice is calling for a thorough investigation into all alleged police killings so far in the twin-island republic.

Police statistic show that 24 people have been killed during police operations this year, compared with 22 cases recorded during the corresponding period last year.

The political party says the country must be informed of the status of the ongoing investigations as the current climate demands that the public have the utmost confidence in the Police Complaints Authority.

Head of the Authority, Gillian Lucky, has indicated that the organisation is very concerned about the number of police killings of civilians.
