Bolt short listed for Male Athlete of the Year … again

The world’s fastest man, Jamaican Usain Bolt and Russian pole-vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva head the list of six nominations that athletics has received in the annual Athlete of the Year ballot – covering all sports.



The award is organized by the United States Sports Academy and the winners will be announced on Thursday.



Bolt, who won three gold medals all in record times at the Beijing Olympics, has already been named by the British Broadcasting Corporation as their ‘Overseas Sports Personality of the Year’ and as the French sports daily L’Equipe’s ‘Champion of Champions’.



Bolt was also named the International Association of Athletics Federation Male Athlete of the Year.



Isinbayeva was named the Female Athlete of the Year.



Other male track and field athletes named are Bryan Clay of the USA and Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia.



The female track and field list also includes Tirunesh Dibaba of Ethiopia and Paula Radcliffe of the United Kingdom.



A total of 12 stars from different sports have been selected.
