Guyana announces action plan to stem Trafficking in Persons

Published:Monday | June 30, 2014 | 2:43 PM

The Guyanese Government has devised a new action plan to combat human trafficking.

This comes after the United States Department of States described Guyana as a source and destination country in its June 2014 Trafficking in Persons.

The US report says men, women, and children are subjected to sex trafficking and forced labor in Guyana.

Guyana's Government Information News Agency says the Ministerial Task Force on Trafficking in Persons plan will run for two years and plans to embark on a series of awareness and sensitisation sessions in communities in all 10 regions of the country.
