West Indies could dislodge New Zealand in cricket’s One-Day International (ODI) team ratings if they defeat the home side in their forthcoming series.

Currently rated Number 8 in the International Cricket Council’s ODI Championship table, West Indies could move into the Number 7 spot if they register a 5-nil victory over New Zealand.

New Zealand are listed fifth in the current ODI ratings with a points rating of 113 and they would lose 11 rating points if they went down 5-nil, while the West Indies, with a points rating of 91, would gain 11.

A 5-nil win for West Indies would put both teams level on 102 points. But the ICC says the Caribbean side would place higher in such an event when the ratings are calculated beyond the decimal point.

If New Zealand win the series 5-nil, they would move up to 118 points, moving ahead of Pakistan for fourth place, just one point behind South Africa and India while the West Indies would stay in eighth place but Drop to 86 rating points.

World Cup holders Australia are clear in the Number 1 position with a 131-point rating.
