More than 150 buildings, including a school and hospital, were damaged when strong winds and rains swept through Suriname yesterday.
Disaster officials reported that the storm also uprooted trees and power lines and destroyed crops in many parts of the country.
At least four persons were injured by flying zinc sheets from roofs.
The National Coordination Center for Disaster Management said it had sent relief workers to assist victims and assess the damage.
