Drought conditions worsen in St Lucia
The St Lucia Water and Sewage Company has placed the entire island under a water emergency schedule as the drought worsens.
The emergency water schedule was initially confined to the north of the island but managing director of the Water and Sewage Company Vincent Hippolyte says that there has not been sufficient rainfall to meet the demands of consumers.
He says as a result, the island-wide water rationing programme will remain in effect and communities will experience periodic water outages.
The Water and Sewage Company says experts suggest that the drought may continue until the end of August.
