West Indies, New Zealand face off in Queenstown
West Indies and hosts New Zealand will face off this evening Jamaica time in the first of five One-Day Internationals, which bowls off in Queenstown Events Centre.
Opener Chris Gayle will be New Zealand’s main target.
The dominant left-hander has been the most dangerous of the West Indies batsmen in recent matches and the Black Caps believe getting the Windies captain early will be the key to victory.
Medium pacer Kyle Mills says West Indies have not got much batting depth and they rely on Gayle heavily.
Mills also noted that Shivnarine Chanderpaul, with an average of 40 in One Day Internationals, was also a threat as the left-hander had proven in the Test series already.
West Indies will be looking for top honours in the series after both the Test and Twenty/Twenty series finished in stalemates.
