T&T PM wants controversial Lifesport audit findings

Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar has asked the country’s Attorney General to turn over the findings of an audit of the controversial Lifesport programme to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Police Commissioner for action.



Persad Bissessar told Parliament that the audit has revealed several discrepancies including procurement breaches, theft of equipment, breaches of the Proceeds of Crime Act and a deviation from the mandates of Cabinet.



She says the audit show the involvement of some persons in criminal activities and alleged fraud by suppliers.



Persad Bissessar says both the police and the DPP will be asked to investigate, detain and prosecute those found guilty to the fullest extent of the law”.
