St Kitts on crime
The St Kitts & Nevis Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas is urging the country’s security forces to get tougher on crime.
Dr Douglas is reported to have told the country\'s Defence Force that those who challenge the integrity of the country must be confronted as if St Kitts is in a state of war.
The Prime Minister also says those who continue to terrorise citizens and visitors must be held accountable.
The government earlier this month organised a national consultation on crime.
The prime minister has described as a major concern, the increase in homicides caused by an apparent proliferation of guns and gangs in certain areas of St Kitts and Nevis.
St. Kitts and Nevis has recorded 22 homicides this year, including a double murder earlier this month.
