A banking association in the Caribbean has said the banking system in the region is not under any stress as a result of the international financial turmoil.

The Eastern Caribbean Currency Union Bankers Association said it is aware of concerns across the region about the impact of the global financial downturn.

It said in a statement that while there would be some impact, it is expected to be limited and manageable.

According to the association, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank will continue to ensure that the banking system in the sub-region is well regulated and under constant supervision.
