Many students in Guyana were unable to attend classes this morning due to damage to schools caused by heavy rainfall and flooding in the country recently.
Education Minister Shaik Baksh says ministry officials are to visit a number of schools mainly along the country\'s coastline to determine whether they can re-open as scheduled for the new school term.
Excessive seasonal rains have left many of the school compounds un-usable.
More than 60 schools have remained closed.
