Jamaica arrive without Lorenzo Ingram
Jamaica’s senior cricketers will stage their final training session later this afternoon at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex in St Kitts and Nevis ahead of the 2009 regional four-day championships, which bowls off tomorrow.
Jamaica, the defending champions, will tackle hosts Leeward Islands in their opening game at Warner Park.
The Jamaicans arrived without all-rounder Lorenzo Ingram for the game.
The 14-man squad was reduced to 13 just before the squad left on Tuesday afternoon.
Jamaica Cricket Association President, Paul Campbell says the selectors had named 14 players in error.
Campbell says the situation is embarrassing, as the West Indies Cricket Board had indicated in the competition’s rules that each squad should comprise 13 players.
In the other opening games, the Windward Islands and Guyana will face off at the National Stadium in Grenada, while Barbados will be at home to last season’s runners-up Trinidad and Tobago.
