Jamaica beat Dom Republic
Alonzo Adlam pumped in a hat trick and piloted Jamaica to a 4-1 victory over the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-20 football finals in St Vincent and the Grenadines yesterday.
The young Reggae Boyz scored all their goals in the first half and the Dominican Republic pulled a goal early in the second half.
The result gave Jamaica the lead in the four-team playoff with four points.
The CFU final round winners will earn an automatic berth to the CONCACAF Under 20 finals in Trinidad and Tobago in March, along with the hosts, Canada, Mexico, the United States, Costa Rica and El Salvador.
The runners-up will have a second opportunity to make the eight-team CONCACAF Under 20 finals, as they will play-off against Honduras to get the last spot in the play-off.
Four teams will qualify from the CONCACAF Under-20 playoffs to the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt from September 25 to October 16.
The qualifiers will conclude tomorrow with Jamaica facing St Vincent and the Grenadines and Haiti against the Dominican Republic.
