Guyana rising water woes

The authorities in Guyana have called in the security forces to help protect a large conservancy, in which the water level has risen to dangerous levels due to heavy rain.

An overflow of the catchment facility will reportedly threaten surrounding villages, which have been under flood water for weeks.

The Government has also mandated the Civil Defence Commission to prepare shelters and stockpile necessary materials for residents in flood-affected areas.
