Israeli forces move into Gaza city

Israeli forces are reportedly moving slowly into Gaza\'s most densely populated areas as they continue air and ground attacks on Hamas militants.



There have been reports of action on the ground, but the army has denied escalating the war to what has been described as an all-out push on Gaza City and other towns.



Officials say 12 air strikes were carried out last night compared with as many as 60 on previous nights.



Reports suggest diplomatic efforts between Egypt and Hamas in Cairo are progressing.



According to Middle East Quartet envoy Tony Blair, elements are now in place for a ceasefire agreement.



At least five Palestinians including one militant were killed earlier today, bringing the total Palestinian death toll during the conflict to about 900.



At least 13 Israelis have died since the fighting began more than two weeks ago.
