The Trinidad and Tobago government has predicted that that revenues will decline by more than US$400 million this year as a result of falling energy prices.

According to Prime Minister Patrick Manning the government now sees oil and gas revenues totalling about 7 billion, 1 billion less than its original forecast.

Mr. Manning said the government would respond by trimming expenditure, running a deficit and borrowing on the local market.
