Canadian organisers are trying to get Jamaica’s world sprint sensation Usain Bolt to appear at a major international track and field meet at the University of Toronto in June.
The Toronto Star newspaper in Canada reports that negotiations with Bolt’s agent are underway to have the triple Olympic gold medalist run at the June 10 meet.
The newspaper also reported that Bolt would command an appearance fee of US$250,000 to run at the University of Toronto’s Varsity Centre.
The 22 year old Bolt, who shattered world records in the 100 and 200 metres at the Beijing Olympics last August, will open his 2009 season at a local meet in Kingston.
He will run the 400 metres at the Camperdown Classic on February 14.
