President of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Enrique De Marchena said hoteliers are working to keep the region competitive during the global economic downturn.
Mr. De Marchena, said a major priority is to get the proposed Caribbean Marketing Fund up and running.
CARICOM leaders had recommended setting up the fund at their meeting in Antigua last July.
Mr. De Marchena said hoteliers are also talking to ministers of tourism about reducing operating costs.
