Caricom to track firearms

Caricom says it is putting a system in place to track the movement and use of firearms across the region.

The central system is to be called the Regional Integrated Ballistics Information Network.

Caricom says work has started on the system, which is intended to help strengthen the region\'s ability to fight the scourge of illegal guns and their use in committing crimes.

Caricom’s Implementation Agency for Crime and Security headed by Lynne Anne Williams has been given the responsibility to bring the system into existence.

Williams says they are now looking for a vendor to set up and run the system.
