Leader of the opposition Antigua Labour Party (ALP), Lester Bird, is promising that there will be no investigation of the financial transaction of the governing United Progressive Party (UPP) if his party wins the general election.

He said the ALP would be too busy focusing on the country’s economic matters.

Mr. Bird and senior members of his former government are facing criminal and civil proceedings for alleged corruption.

None of the cases has been brought before the courts for hearing, and the opposition is claiming that its part of a campaign to victimise its members.
