England beat St Kitts and Nevis
Captain Andrew Strauss completed a century and spinner Monty Panesar played another leading role as England beat a St. Kitts and Nevis Invitational side on yesterday’s third and final day of the tour-opening warm up match at Warner Park in St Kitts.
England won by 217 runs with eight overs remaining.
Strauss made 103 as England stretched their overnight score from 118 without loss to 265 for five before declaring at lunch.
Ian Bell compiled a half-century and all-rounder Stuart Broad chipped in with a run-a-ball 35.
St Kitts, staring at an imposing target of 439, were bowled out for 221 in their second innings.
Panesar took three for 51 while leg spinner Adil Rashid grabbed two for 67 and Broad claimed two for 18.
Left-hander Codville Rodgers smashed a top score of 79 for St Kitts and Nevis, his second half-century of the match.
Final scores- England 424 for eight declared and 265 for five declared, St Kitts and Nevis 251 and 221.
England will now take on West Indies ‘A’ team from tomorrow in the final warm-up at the same ground before the first test starts February 4 at Sabina Park in Jamaica.
