A special meeting of a panel of leaders which was due to be held in Barbados this week has been postponed.

It will now be held in Belize, the current chair of the community, during the regular first-quarter summit in March.

The heads of government committee would have discussed the faltering single market and the future of the trade negotiating unit.

CARICOM sources said the postponement was imminent when several leaders indicated they could not attend.

The President of Guyana, Bharrat Jagdeo had publicly announced that he would be attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

However, a meeting of finance ministers will still take place in Bridgetown, Barbados this week.
