England tough opening

England cricketers had a very tough opening day as a youthful West Indies ‘A’ team piled up 343 for two at stumps in the three-day warm up match at Warner Park in St Kitts.

The English bowlers were battered as Trinidadian duo Lendl Simmons and Adrian Barath weighed in with big hundreds.

Simmons led the way with an unbeaten 171 while 18 year old Barath hit 132.

James Anderson and Kevin Pietersen were the wicket takers for England.

Anderson had attacking opener Kieran Powell caught for 14 to end with one for 67; while Pietersen had Barath also caught to finish with one for 13 off three overs.

The game is the last tune-up for England before the first Digicel Test match in Jamaica starting next Wednesday.
