A former Central Bank Governor in Trinidad and Tobago, Winston Dookeran, is questioning the government’s ability to bail out one of the Caribbean’s largest companies,CL Financial.
The government and Central Bank have announced that they will rescue the company, which has investments in energy, banking, food and insurance.
Late last year, the government announced that it would have to revise its spending because of falling energy prices.
Mr. Dookeran said the bailout might not be the right move, in light of the global financial squeeze.
