West Indies have taken five England wickets at Sports Time to grab the advantage on the opening day of the first test at Sabina Park in Kingston.

With another three overs remaining in the day’s play, England were 233 for five with Andrew Flintoff on 40 and Matt Prior 26 not out.

Earlier, Kevin Pietersen was out for 97 as England attempted to recover from a faltering start.

The former captain skied a shot off spinner Sulieman Benn as he attempted to bring up his 16th Test century and was caught by wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin.

That ended an 86-run partnership with Flintoff which had steadied England after a poor start.

Benn has so far taken two for 64, while there was a wicket apiece for captain Chris Gayle, Daren Powell and Jerome Taylor.
