West Indies stay in control of first test
The West Indies continue to be in control of the first test match against England at Sabina Park, opening up a 34-run lead against the visitors. At the close of the third day’s play today, West Indies had reached 352 for 7. This was being in reply to England’s 318.
Both captain Chris Gayle and former vice-captain Ramnaresh Sarwan went on to complete well deserved centuries.
Gayle completed his 9th Test Ton - scoring 104 while Sarwan made 107. It was an absorbing day’s play during which runs were hard to come by. The West Indies managed to score at just over two runs per over.
Xavier Marshall made a second ball duck, Shivnarine Chanderpaul made 20, Denesh Ramdin 35 and Jerome Taylor 8. All went the lbw route. Stuart Broad was the leading English Bowler with 3 for 61.
Play will resume tomorrow with Sulliman Benn on 10 and Brendon Nash not out 47.
