The United States and Canada are calling for greater dialogue, after Haiti\'s electoral council barred members of the former President Jean Bertrand Aristide\'s political party from contesting the upcoming Senate election.
All candidates of Mr Aristide\'s Lavalas Family Party were rejected for the April 19 vote.
According to Council president Frantz Verret the candidates were rejected because their documents did not have Mr Aristide’s signature.
Aristide has been in exile for the past five years.
The US embassy in Port-au-Prince wants all the parties involved to keep the doors open to dialogue and debate.
