Bermuda tourist arrivals down

Bermuda’s Premier Ewart Brown is reporting that visitor arrivals to the island fell by more than 12 percent in 2008.

Mr. Brown, who is also tourism minister, said the overall number of visitors fell from 663,767 in 2007, to just under 582,980 last year.

Tourism was once the island\'s main income earner, but has fallen second place to international business.

The regional tourism industry has seen a drop in visitor arrivals and tourism revenue, as a result of the global economic crisis.
