Organizers of the Jamaica International Invitational Track and Field Meet are expecting a star-studded local and overseas line up at the championship.

The sixth staging of the meet, which was launched today at Hilton Kingston Hotel, will take place at the National Stadium on Saturday, May 2.

Donald Quarrie, a member of the Organising Committee, is expecting top American sprinter Tyson Gay to open his season at the meet.

Gay is the reigning world 100 and 200 metre champion.

Quarrie said several Beijing Olympic champions have expressed an interest to compete.

Last year former 100-metre world record holder Asafa Powell and his MVP teammates were missing. However, Quarrie is expecting to have representatives from the top local club this year.

Tickets will go on sale on April 29.
