UK in-transit visit introduced

The British High Commission has announced that as of March 3, Jamaicans travelling through the United Kingdom must have an in-transit visa.

The High Commission said Jamaicans may apply for an in-transit visa the same way they would go about seeking to obtain a regular visitor’s visa.

All visa applications must be made at the Worldbridge Visa Application Centre at 34 Trafalgar Road, in New Kingston.

The application should be submitted at least five days before travel.

Travellers must provide fingerprints, before they are given the clearance to travel to the UK.

Similar requirements have also been imposed for nationals of Bolivia, Lesotho, South Africa, Swaziland and Venezuela.

However, Venezuelans travelling on new machine-readable Venezuelan passports will be exempt from the new requirement.

There will also be a lifting of the visa requirement for Taiwanese visiting the UK.
