England/W I Test

England will resume this morning in a dominant position against West Indies in the third cricket Test at the Antigua Recreation Ground.

Captain Andrew Strauss hit a superb 169 to lift the visitors to 301 for three at the end of yesterday’s first day.

Strauss cracked 24 fours and one six in notching his 15th Test century. The left-hander shared successive century stands with Alastair Cook, 52, and Owais Shah 57.

Captain Chris Gayle, one for 35 and fast bowler Fidel Edwards, one for 41, led West Indies on a pitch which defied pre match predictions that it would be good for bowling.

Kevin Pietersen will resume on eight with night watchman James Anderson three not out.
