Antigua and Barbuda\'s Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer is worried that the fraud charges against Texan billionaire Allen Stanford will have implications for the country.

Stanford was charged by US financial regulators yesterday in connection with an alleged $8 billion fraud scheme, involving three of his companies.

Although the Bank of Antigua was not named in the investigations, it has reportedly been flooded with enquires from account holders about the security of their deposits.

The Bank is a member of the Stanford financial group.

Investors have also been demanding either money or answers at other Stanford offices in the United States and South America.

Agencies have reported that clients of the Stanford International Bank Limited’s affiliates in Venezuela, Panama and Ecuador have also been trying to close accounts.
