Protester killed in Guadeloupe unrest

The four week strike in Guadeloupe over the high cost of living has resulted in the death of at least one protester.



Its the first death since the strike broke out last month.



The demonstrations turned violent on Monday when protesters clashed with police.



Three police officers have also been injured in the unrest.



The French government has continued to appeal for calm in the overseas

department.
