West Indies struggling against England
The West Indies, set an improbable victory target of 503 by England, reached 143 for three in their second innings at the end of today’s fourth day of the third Test at the Antigua Recreation Ground.
Ramnaresh Sarwan 47 and Shivnarine Chanderpaul 18 are the batsmen at the crease.
The West Indies lost Devon Smith for 21, captain Chris Gayle for 46 and Ryan Hinds for six.
Earlier, England 31 for one overnight scored 221 for eight in their second innings before skipper Andrew Strauss declared an hour before lunch.
Opener Alastair Cook top scored with 58 off 103 balls while Paul Collingwood 34 off 31 balls and Kevin Pietersen 32 off 46 deliveries helped lift the scoring rate before the declaration.
Left-arm spinners Ryan Hinds and Suliemann Benn and fast bowler Daren Powell ended with two wickets apiece.
