The governor of the US Virgin Islands has said the territory stands to benefit significantly from President Barack Obama’s stimulus plan.
Governor John deJongh says the territory is to receive close to $250 million in benefits from the stimulus plan.
The Governor says the funds will help the USVI to among other things, modernise its schools, strengthen law enforcement, and improve its health systems.
Mr deJongh is travelling to Washington this weekend to meet with other US state and territorial governors to discuss the stimulus plan.
President Obama has just signed into law a package of almost $800 billion worth of spending projects and tax cuts.
