Former coach dies

Colonel Ken Barnes, the father of Reggae Boyz coach John Barnes, died last night after a long illness.



The Trinidadian-born, who was an avid sports man, was 73 years old.



He captained the Jamaica football team in the 1960. Between 1972 and 1973 he served as president of the Jamaica Amateur Swimming Association.



On April 22, 2005 he was elected President of the Jamaica Boxing Board of Control.
