Jamaica defeat Windward Islands

Reigning champions Jamaica defeated Windward Islands by an innings and 13 runs just before lunch yesterday at Windsor Park Stadium in Dominica to move back to the top of the standings in the regional four-day tournament.



Resuming the final day on 109 for six still requiring a further 38 to make Jamaica bat again, the hosts lost their last four wickets for 25 runs to end their second innings on 134.



Johnson Charles top scored for Windward Islands with 38.



Odean Brown was the most successful bowler for Jamaica with five for 25. Nikita Miller had three for 39 and Gavin Wallace picked up two for 15.



The result gave Jamaica their fourth win in sixth games and vaulted them to 60 points, nine ahead of Barbados, which were idle this weekend.



Final scores are Windward Islands 261 and 134, Jamaica 408.



In Barbados, Combined Campuses and Colleges, set 328 runs to beat the Leeward Islands, reached 14 for one at the close of yesterday’s third day of their match.



At the National Stadium, Trinidad and Tobago, leading hosts Guyana by 128 runs on first innings, reached 14 for one in their second innings at the end of yesterday’s penultimate day.
